Salah has struggled to gain full fitness since sustaining a hamstring injury while playing for Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations in January

The 31-year-old returned to action in last month's 4-1 win over Brentford, but he ultimately suffered an injury setback during his substitute appearance.

As a result, Salah was forced to miss four competitive matches before he came off the bench to feature in Thursday's 5-1 Europa League win over Sparta Prague.

Although he has recovered from his latest injury issue, Salah has been omitted from Egypt's 25-man squad following a request from Liverpool

The Egyptian FA recently revealed that Liverpool had asked to leave Salah out of their squad for their upcoming friendly tournament.

Egypt initially confirmed that they would call up Salah if he returned to action for Liverpool before the international period.

However, the Egyptian FA have decided to change their stance after Hossam Hassan left Salah out of his first squad since becoming the new national team head coach last month.

Egypt have ultimately opted to agree to Liverpool's request and prioritise Salah's long-term fitness over the next round of international fixtures.

The Pharaohs are will go up against New Zealand in the semi-finals of the Winsunited Cup on March 22, with the winner set to face either Croatia or Tunisia in the final.

Salah is likely to be involved in Liverpool's next two games before taking advantage of the two-week break for the international period.

After facing title rivals Manchester City on Sunday afternoon, the Reds will turn their attention to next weekend's FA Cup clash with Manchester United.

Having already claimed the EFL Cup, Liverpool are hoping to collect more silverware before Jurgen Klopp leaves his role as Liverpool manager in the summer.
