Jurgen Klopp not satisfied by Fleetwood Town rout

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists that there is plenty of room for improvement despite his side thrashing Fleetwood Town 5-0 in a pre-season match.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that he was not entirely pleased with his side's performance during their 5-0 pre-season victory over Fleetwood Town this evening.

Marko Grujic opened the scoring on his first appearance for the club, before 16-year-old Ben Woodburn, Lucas Leiva and Roberto Firmino (2) added goals in the second half to complete the rout.

Despite the emphatic nature of the scoreline, Klopp insists that there is still room for improvement and that the team should not be satisfied with a comfortable win over a League One side.

"In the first half I was not too happy with the performance. We are the better team, have the better players - but we should not only be able to get through with the pace of [Sadio] Mane," he told LFC TV.

"We scored a few goals, nice goals, well deserved. It was okay, and we go on. We have to learn. That's why we train hard and play. You can't decide when to switch off the machine. If we celebrate a clean sheet against a League One team, then something is wrong. If we conceded a goal tonight, not a problem.

"Marko first game for us, first goal - nice. I'm happy for all the boys. They are wearing Liverpool shirts because they're all good. That little voice in your head that says 'I'm tired', you have to tell it to shut up."

Liverpool's next pre-season match sees them take on Wigan Athletic on Sunday.
