Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp plays down Tony Pulis spat after handshake refusal

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits that he did not shake hands with Tony Pulis, but insists that he has no issues with the West Brom boss.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he did not shake hands with his West Bromwich Albion counterpart Tony Pulis at Anfield because Sunday's match was not "friendly", but he has played down suggestions of a rift.

The two managers clashed on the touchline during yesterday's 2-2 draw on Merseyside.

Jordan Henderson gave Liverpool the lead, but that was cancelled out by Craig Dawson before the half-time break.

The Baggies took the lead at Anfield when Jonas Olsson headed home in the 73rd minute, but a last-gasp effort from Divock Origi inside eight minutes of added time gave Liverpool a point.

When asked by reporters about his touchline spat with Pulis, Klopp said: "I didn't see him after the game. I can say nothing. We had some words in the game. Sometimes it takes more than a few seconds to cool down.

"Usually I shake hands, I did not today because it was not a friendly game."

Pulis later told reporters: "[Klopp] has got to do what he has got to do, I am more disappointed about the way they came back to make it 2-2. He is animated. I have been animated all my life on the bench. I have no problems with that."

In the game, Dejan Lovren was carried off the pitch on a stretcher after he was tackled by Craig Gardner.
