Jurgen Klopp denies Liverpool have become complacent

Jurgen Klopp admits to being surprised by Liverpool's back-to-back defeats, but denies that has anything to do with complacency following a memorable win over Manchester City.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that his players are 'too serious' for complacency to slip into their game, despite suffering back-to-back losses over the last week.

The Reds followed up their memorable victory over Manchester City on January 14 with defeats to Swansea City in the Premier League and West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup.

Klopp is adamant that being over-confident has little to do with his side's recent abject displays, though, and is hopeful of getting back on track against Huddersfield Town in West Yorkshire on Tuesday night.

"Nothing in training gave me a sign that the boys misjudged the success or result against Man City, or the performance," he told reporters at his weekly presser.

"We are really serious people and we took it, I think, in the right way, but then we had two games and we have to show that we can do better.

"There are a lot of games to play, a lot of big challenges waiting for us and we have to be ready. After each defeat, if you learn from it, then it makes a little bit of sense.

"If you don't learn from it, then it makes absolutely no sense. Of course the pressure increases in a situation like this, the pressure we make on ourselves, but that's how it is."

Liverpool had gone 19 games without tasting defeat at Anfield prior to West Brom's 3-2 win on Saturday evening.
