Liverpool striker Danny Ings has hailed his return to first-team action under manager Jurgen Klopp as "a massive relief".

The Englishman, who recently suffered successive injuries that kept him out for the best part of two seasons, has made a full recovery and is back in contention for a place in Klopp's plans.

The former Burnley forward has made just five starts and 11 substitute appearances in his time with the Reds, but Ings told the Liverpool Echo that he is now confident of keeping fully fit.

"It's been a massive relief for me, I've been working so hard to get into the shape I'm in now and being back among the lads," the striker said. "Now I'm getting minutes on the pitch and being part of it, it's a huge moment for me and I'm just looking forward forward to the future.

"I can almost sense and feel it's coming and the more minutes I get the better I'm going to feel and I'm sure I'm going to get that goal again. Confidence isn't an issue for me, the most pressure was getting back fit.

"Once I'm on the pitch and I've got players like Ben [Woodburn] and everybody else around me I know there's going to be chances in those games and it's down to me to start taking them so I'm looking forward to the challenge."

Ings began his career with Southampton, before playing for Bournemouth and the Clarets.
