Steven Gerrard: Liverpool "have not achieved anything yet" this season

Steven Gerrard acknowledges that Liverpool must maintain their strong run of form until the end of the season if they are to seal a top-four spot in the Premier League.

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has warned his teammates not to get too carried away by their recent impressive form as they have won "absolutely nothing" yet in terms of trophies for the season.

Following a shaky start to the campaign, the Reds have improved drastically since the turn of the year to become the Premier League's most in-form side.

Despite this, Gerrard knows from his years of experience that his side's 12-game unbeaten run in the English top flight will count for little if they fail to seal a Champions League qualification berth.

"Winning our last four league games has certainly improved our chances of finishing in the top four," the Los Angeles Galaxy-bound midfielder is quoted as saying by The Express. "At the same time we know our recent good run has guaranteed absolutely nothing. After our up-and-down start to the season, all it's done is get us in contention for a Champions League spot.

"Plenty of other teams are fighting for the same objective. None of them are going to make it easy for us, so we have to keep picking up points. There are still a lot of games to be played and we haven't achieved anything yet. In recent weeks the manager has had to utilise all of the squad and each player who has got on the pitch has taken their chance by performing well.

"I've said previously that choosing the starting eleven should never be an easy task for the boss and when everyone is available that will certainly be the case."

Liverpool, who are currently fifth in the league table, return to action on Monday night when they take on Swansea City.
