Steven Caulker shocked to be played up front in Liverpool debut

Defender Steven Caulker admits that he was shocked when Jurgen Klopp played him up front on his Liverpool debut.

Steven Caulker has admitted that he was surprised by Jurgen Klopp's decision to play the defender up front on his Liverpool debut.

The centre-back signed for the Reds from Queens Park Rangers on a loan deal on Tuesday.

Caulker was brought in as cover for the club's current injury crisis in defence, but he made his debut up front alongside Christian Benteke in the dying minutes of Liverpool's Premier League clash against Arsenal.

The defender was thrown on in the 88th minute and played a hand in Joe Allen's goal that sealed a 3-3 draw at Anfield.

On Instagram, Caulker wrote: "I think on Saturday morning I would have had shorter odds to win the lotto than to be making my Liverpool debut UPFRONT 4 days later lol! What an honour #godisgood #lfc."
