Jamie Carragher slams Philippe Coutinho display

Jamie Carragher describes Philippe Coutinho's defending as "lazy" and "weak" in Liverpool's 3-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Jamie Carragher has slammed the defensive display of Philippe Coutinho in Liverpool's 3-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian failed to track the run of Wayne Rooney for Louis van Gaal's side's first goal, as the England skipper was left unmarked on the edge of the box to slot an effort past Brad Jones.

Carragher told Sky Sports News: "What Coutinho does on the edge of the box is unforgivable.

"It is lazy but from Manchester United's point of view it is a great goal. Another problem is that [Steven] Gerrard is left on his own at the edge of the box. It is unforgivable, lazy and weak."

Liverpool dropped to 10th in the Premier League due to their defeat to the Red Devils.
