Jamie Carragher hails "outstanding" Brendan Rodgers

Jamie Carragher praises "outstanding" Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers for improving the team's form in 2015.

Jamie Carragher has heaped praise on Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers for turning around the team's fortunes this season.

The Reds moved up to fifth place in the Premier League table on Sunday thanks to a 2-1 win over champions Manchester City at Anfield.

The result saw Liverpool extend their unbeaten run in the league to 11 games, with their last three matches ending as victories.

While they struggled for form during the first half of the campaign, Carragher believes that Rodgers has now shaped the side into genuine top-four contenders.

"Every manager puts the praise on their players and rightly so, but the job Brendan Rodgers has done is outstanding because there were five new players in that team who came in the summer," the former defender told the club's official website.

"There were questions asked early on. People may say they took time to settle in and now they are showing their real form. He's found a system that suits these players that originally wasn't the blueprint of how the team was going to go forward."

Liverpool continue their Premier League campaign on Wednesday when they host Burnley.
