Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam has admitted that playing 15 to 20 matches a season at Liverpool would not have been enough for him.
Adam left Liverpool to join Stoke City in the summer and ahead of their clash on Sunday, Adam revealed that he could have stayed at Anfield but he was not prepared to remain a squad player.
"I want to be a footballer and that means playing on a Saturday afternoon," he told The Mirror.
"I could have stayed at Liverpool and played maybe 15 to 20 times a season, but that isn't enough for me.
"I want to play 30 to 40 times a season."
The Scotland international has featured in four of Stoke's league matches this season.
