Alberto Moreno: 'Ankle injury still does not feel quite right'

Alberto Moreno suggests that he is unlikely to play for Liverpool in Saturday's FA Cup tie with West Bromwich Albion due to ongoing discomfort in his injured ankle.

Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno has revealed that he is not yet ready to return from an ankle injury.

The 25-year-old has been out of action since being forced off during the Reds' 7-0 win over Spartak Moscow in the Champions League on December 6.

Although back in training, Moreno has suggested that he is not yet back to full fitness and is unlikely to play in Liverpool's FA Cup fourth-round game with West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Asked about the prospect of featuring against the Baggies, Moreno told the official club site: "I honestly don't know. It'll be the manager who decides exactly when I come back but what I do want to make sure of is that I'm fully 100% when I do make my comeback.

"You don't want to not live up to what you can do when you're fully fit so it's a case of getting that match fitness at 100% so as not to let people down.

"The good news is that it's getting better each day. The thing about your ankle is that it's a part of your body you're always putting your full weight on - that makes it a little bit more complicated.

"I can still feel it's not quite right but it's getting better every day and the good thing is that I'm training with the rest of the group. We're just waiting for this little discomfort to go away and then I'll be raring to go."

Moreno has made 20 appearances for Jurgen Klopp's side so far this season.
