Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Liverpool

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier clash with Liverpool.

Manchester City will be looking to make it three wins on the bounce in the Premier League when they take a trip to Anfield to square off against Liverpool on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola's men saw their 100% record in the Champions League come to an end last Tuesday when they were held to a goalless draw by Danish outfit Copenhagen at the Parken Stadium.

The Citizens, whose last league defeat came in February when they were beaten 3-2 by Tottenham Hotspur on home turf, currently sit second in the Premier League standings with 23 points from nine matches, one point off first-placed Arsenal.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with Liverpool, who they have failed to get the better of in the last four meetings between the teams, losing twice and claiming two draws since a 4-1 victory in February 2021.

John Stones was forced off due to a thigh injury while in action for England in September's UEFA Nations League clash against Germany, and while the 28-year-old has missed each of Manchester City's last four matches, he could make his return this weekend.

Kalvin Phillips

Possible return date: Unknown

Kalvin Phillips underwent shoulder surgery back in September and the former Leeds United midfielder, who is now at risk of missing the forthcoming World Cup, is out of contention for this weekend's fixture.

Status: Out
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: Unknown

Kyle Walker was forced off injured in the first half against Manchester United on September 2, and after recently undergoing groin surgery, the England international is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, putting his World Cup participation in doubt.

MANCHESTER CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Manchester City have no active players suspended for this weekend's clash, with Sergio Gomez's red card against Copenhagen in midweek not carrying over into domestic competition.
