Half-Time Report: Liverpool edge thrilling first half

Liverpool get best of a thrilling first half against Swansea City as they lead 3-2 at Anfield.

Liverpool are leading Swansea City 3-2 at half time at Anfield in the Premier League.

The Reds had the lead inside three minutes when Raheem Sterling's angled pass sent Daniel Sturridge scampering through, and the in-form striker kept his composure to round the goalkeeper and tap into an empty net.

Wilfried Bony flashed a shot over the bar on the edge of the box after some sloppy defending allowed the Ivorian the space to shoot.

Jordan Henderson then doubled the lead after 20 minutes when he curled in an effort from the edge of the box after good work again from Sturridge.

Jonjo Shelvey reduced the deficit two minutes later when he bent a shot into the top corner off the bar from the edge of the box after collecting Nathan Dyer's pass.

Swansea restored parity minutes later when Bony's header was deflected past Simon Mignolet in the Liverpool goal by Martin Skrtel's touch.

However, Sturridge gave his side the lead once more when he headed home Luis Suarez's floated cross just after the hour mark.

Suarez tried to catch Michel Vorm unaware from close to half-way line, but the attempt dropped just wide shortly after Sturridge's second.

Mignolet was then forced into a good save from Bony shortly before the break when the Swans striker struck a low effort at goal.
