Fenway Sports Group reportedly cancel a staff meeting with Liverpool on Tuesday amid widespread criticism of their role in forming the European Super League.

Fenway Sports Group have reportedly decided to cancel a meeting with Liverpool's staff at short notice, a move which coincides with criticism of their role in the European Super League.

On Sunday, Liverpool were revealed as one of 12 teams who wish to form an alternative to the Champions League, potentially as early as next season.

American owners FSG are said to have played a major part in the plans, actions which have been condemned by the Premier League, UEFA and supporters of the respective clubs.

According to Liverpool journalist David Lynch, FSG had been scheduled to hold discussions with members of staff on Tuesday over Zoom.

However, after protests were held ahead of Liverpool's fixture with Leeds United on Monday evening, those plans have now been scrapped.

Manager Jurgen Klopp and midfielder James Milner have both acknowledged that they do not support the formation of the competition.
