Carlo Ancelotti will be looking to win the Champions League for the fourth time as manager when Real Madrid face Liverpool in Saturday's final in the French capital.

The Italian led AC Milan to two European Cups during his time in charge of the Serie A giants, securing the trophy in 2002-03 and 2006-07.

Meanwhile, the experienced head coach lifted the 2013-14 European Cup during his first spell in charge of Real Madrid courtesy of a 4-1 victory over Atletico Madrid in the final.

Ancelotti will be bidding to create Champions League history this weekend, as he looks to lift the trophy for the fourth time as head coach.

The Real Madrid manager is currently level with Bob Paisley and Zinedine Zidane with three European Cups, while Alex Ferguson, Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho and Brian Clough are among those to have won two.

Ancelotti also led Los Blancos to this season's La Liga title, securing the trophy at the end of April, with the team ultimately finishing 13 points clear of second-placed Barcelona.

The Italian has now won La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the Spanish Super Cup, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup during his two spells in charge of the capital giants.

Ancelotti returned to Bernabeu last summer after spending 18 months at Everton, and he has won 38, drawn eight and lost nine of his 55 matches at Real Madrid this term.

The experienced manager recently revealed that he is likely to retire once he leaves Real Madrid, but he would be prepared to spend "another 10 years" in charge of the club if required.

"After this period at Real Madrid it is likely that I will retire. But if Real Madrid want me to be here for another 10 years, I'll be here for another 10 years," Ancelotti told Amazon Prime Video.

"I would like to be with my grandchildren, to be on holiday with my wife. There are so many things to do that I've had to put aside. There's a lot of places I've never been to.

"I've never been to Australia. I've never been to Rio de Janeiro. I want to go visit my sister more often. Unfortunately you can't do everything, so the day I retire, I'll have all these things to do."

Ancelotti, though, said that he would be open to coaching a national team in the future, with his only previous international experience coming as assistant manager for Italy in the early 1990s.

"Why not? I would love to, of course. Canada have done very well recently," said the Italian when asked about managing Les Rouges, who will be present at the 2022 World Cup.

Real Madrid had to beat Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester City in the knockout rounds of this season's Champions League to advance to the final.
