Champions League 40-goal club: Kylian Mbappe joins exclusive group

Sports Mole rounds up the latest standings in the Champions League 40-goal club as Kylian Mbappe becomes the exclusive group's 19th member.

Kylian Mbappe became the 19th and youngest player to reach the 40-goal mark in Champions League history with his stunning effort against Juventus on Wednesday night.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward brought up the milestone in style with a superb solo strike, helping his side to a 2-1 victory but remarkably not top spot in the group in the process, courtesy of Benfica's heroics in Haifa.

Mbappe reached 40 goals in just 59 games, scoring six times for Monaco and 34 times for PSG, recording a better strike ratio than everyone else in the group apart from Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Alfredo di Stefano and Eusebio.

Mohamed Salah also continued his ascent up the rankings, with his 43rd goal drawing him level with Neymar and now just one behind Didier Drogba in the race for the competition's highest-scoring African player.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest standings in the Champions League 40-goal club.
