Leicester City have reportedly submitted a £2m offer for AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong.
It is believed that manager Claudio Ranieri is in the market for a new holding midfielder in case Gokhan Inler leaves the King Power Stadium this month.
Thirty-one-year-old De Jong is Ranieri's preferred choice, with discussions between the two clubs already underway, according to The Mirror.
As well as the initial £2m fee, the report adds that the Foxes have offered to pay an added £1m to their Italian counterparts if the former Manchester City player helps them to secure Champions League football this season.
De Jong joined Milan from the Citizens in August 2012 for around £5m.
