Leicester City 'interested in David Wagner'

Leicester City reportedly identify Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner as a possible replacement for the under-fire Claude Puel.

Leicester City have reportedly identified Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner as a possible replacement for Claude Puel.

Puel only took charge at the King Power Stadium in October, but after an initial upturn in form took the Foxes away from danger, his side have since won just four of their last 19 Premier League games.

Fans have grown increasingly frustrated with Leicester's style under the Frenchman and once again showcased their displeasure with banners and boos during Saturday's 2-0 home defeat to West Ham United.

Leicester have now lost four of their last five games in the league, and The Mirror reports that Puel could now be facing the sack for the second summer in a row, having been dismissed by Southampton after only one season last year.

Wagner is reportedly one of their top choices to succeed Puel, with the German having won admirers with Huddersfield during their debut campaign in the Premier League.

The Terriers remain precariously poised ahead of their final two games of the season - against Chelsea and Arsenal - with only three points separating them from the relegation zone.

Nevertheless, the Leicester hierarchy have been impressed by what they have seen from Wagner, whose current contract at the John Smith's Stadium runs out in 2019.
