Tim Sherwood laments ball retention after Aston Villa loss

Aston Villa coach Tim Sherwood is critical of his players' inability to keep the ball after surrendering a two-goal lead on the way to losing 3-2 to Leicester City.

Aston Villa coach Tim Sherwood has criticised his side's ball retention after they lost a two-goal lead in their 3-2 defeat to Leicester City in the Premier League.

The Villans found themselves two goals up with just under 20 minutes to play, but the Foxes produced a thrilling comeback to take all three points on home soil.

"I'm devastated at the way it's panned out‚" said Sherwood, according to The Guardian.

"To get ourselves in the position where we are controlling the football match, for the momentum to swing away so dramatically is really disappointing for me.

"The only way you can stop momentum is by keeping the ball off the opposition and we gave it back to them so easily in the last half an hour. We need to improve."

Villa have collected just four points from their opening five games of the new season.
