Nigeria forward Ahmed Musa refutes accusations of being a failure at Leicester City by stating that he was never given a chance at the King Power Stadium.

Nigeria forward Ahmed Musa has slammed accusations of being a failure at Leicester City by stating that he was never given a chance at the King Power Stadium.

The 25-year-old has impressed so far at the 2018 World Cup, scoring twice to give the Super Eagles a 2-0 win over Iceland in their Group D meeting in Volgograd.

Musa remains on Leicester's books, having been signed by Claudio Ranieri in the summer of 2016 from CSKA Moscow, but was sent back out on loan to his former club earlier this year.

The former VVV-Venlo man only made 33 appearances for the East Midlanders and seldom featured after Ranieri was sensationally sacked in February 2017.

"Did you ever see me play?" Musa is quoted by Nigerian outlet Punch as saying, when questioned about his time at Leicester.

"Did they give me any opportunity to show myself after they sacked the coach? So I don't want to talk about that.

"[CSKA Moscow] give me the confidence because it's not that easy staying on the bench without playing for seven months."

Musa is the only Nigerian player to have scored twice in two separate World Cup matches, against Argentina in 2014 and Iceland this year.
