Leeds United announce that forward El-Hadji Diouf has signed a new 18-month contract at the Championship club.

Leeds United have announced that El-Hadji Diouf has put pen to paper on a fresh 18-month contract.

The controversial forward initially signed a deal at Elland Road keeping him there until January and while manager Neil Warnock has experienced some rifts with the player in the past, the former Queens Park Rangers boss is "delighted" to secure Diouf's services for an extended period of time.

"We're delighted he's agreed everything and hopefully he'll enjoy the next 18 months with us," Warnock told the club's official website. "Obviously it's a massive boost for everyone to know we're going to have him around, and this is what we've wanted to do.

"He's a match-winning player, and there aren't many of them around. He's a player who can change a game and I'm delighted we've been able to keep him. He's also fitted in really well, and he's been great with the lads."

Diouf has made 24 appearances for Leeds so far this season.
