Leonardo Ulloa strike gives Brighton & Hove Albion win

A second-half effort from Leonard Ulloa gives Brighton & Hove Albion a 1-0 win over Leeds United in the Championship.

A second-half strike from Leonardo Ulloa has sealed all three points for Brighton & Hove Albion against Leeds United in the Championship this evening.

The home side had the majority of the early possession, but a solid display at the back from Leeds ensured that the Seagulls could not find a way through.

Ross McCormack had the pick of the chances for the visitors in the opening 45 minutes as he attempted to drill it in low, but Tomasz Kuszczak got down low to make the save, although it looked like it may have been going wide anyway.

Solly March and Ulloa also had goal-scoring opportunities, but Brighton failed to force a save from Paddy Kenny before the break.

Alex Mowatt tried a long-range effort for Leeds early in the second half, attempting to lob the ball in from outside the box, but it was comfortably saved.

However, the introduction of Kazenga LuaLua lifted Brighton in the 57th minute, and the substitution paid off seven minutes later when he created a chance for Ulloa, who fired the ball home to give the hosts the lead.

March almost added a second less than two minutes later, but Kenny was able to punch his effort away.

LuaLua continued to look lively as the match neared an end, but the hosts were unable to increase their lead before full time.
