Andrea Masiello admits to scoring own goal

Italian defender Andrea Masiello is handed a suspended prison sentence after admitting to purposely scoring an own goal in a Serie A football match.

Andrea Masiello has admitted to purposely scoring an own goal during Bari's 2-0 defeat to Lecce in 2011.

The former Atlanta defender confessed to the offence at a tribunal in Bari, where we was handed a 22-month suspended prison sentence.

Masiello had already been handed a 26-match ban for a total of six illegal offences during a three-year period, which formed part of the scandal that saw Juventus manager Antonio Conte suspended for 10 months in August.

The 26-year-old is currently without a club.
