Lazio president Claudio Lotito has revealed that he plans to meet with representatives of Hernanes to offer the midfielder a new contract in the near future.
Hernanes has been persistently linked with a move away from the Eternal City in recent weeks, with Paris Saint-Germain consistently mentioned in connection with the Selecao playmaker.
Lotito has declared that Lazio want Hernanes to stay beyond the length of his current deal, which expires in 2015, pledging to begin talks over fresh terms as an urgent priority.
He told Corriere dello Sport: "Regarding Hernanes's contract extension, we have a meeting coming up to solve this issue.
"Am I confident? I am a person that sticks to facts. I don't get carried away with things that haven't happened."
The 28-year-old has also made it clear in the past 48 hours that he is not looking to leave the Stadio Olimpico, focusing on helping to ease the pressure on coach Vladimir Petkovic after a patchy start to the season.
