Antonio Candreva stunner wins it for Lazio against Palermo

Antonio Candreva curls in a late winner as Lazio beat Palmero 2-1 in their Serie A meeting at the Stadio Olimpico.

Lazio moved up to fourth in the Serie A table by coming from behind to beat Palermo 2-1 at the Stadio Olimpico this afternoon.

Paulo Dybala threatened early on for the visitors with a low strike that was initially spilled by Federico Marchetti, but the keeper recovered quickly to gather the ball.

Antonio Candreva then had Lazio's first real moment of danger with a half-volley which dropped narrowly wide of the post.

They came close again soon after when Stefano Mauri's near-post effort was pushed behind by Stefano Sorrentino.

Despite their dominance, Lazio fell behind in the 26th minute when Robin Quaison stole possession from Mauricio and slid the ball through to Dybala, who made no mistake to curl a strike past Marchetti.

It took the hosts just seven minutes to draw level as Danilo Cataldi was found at the back post, before squaring for Mauri to slot in from close range.

Palermo were causing their opponents a number of problems on the counter-attack and, following a fast break, Achraf Lazaar was picked out by Dybala, only to see his attempt blocked by the feet of the keeper.

After the break, Miroslav Klose had a sight of goal when he was picked out at the back post, but his header from a tight angle was tipped away by Sorrentino.

Candreva had Lazio's next chance when he drove into the box and fired a strike just wide of the post.

Moments later, Candreva was involved again as his drive was parried by the keeper, and Klose could only turn the rebound over the bar.

Lazio continued to put their opponents under intense pressure and they finally took the lead when Candreva cut in from the left and curled a strike into the top corner.

Palermo pushed hard for a reply, but it never came and they ended the match with 10 men after Edgar Barreto was shown two yellow cards in quick succession deep into stoppage time.
