James Hurst scored two goals before conceding an injury time penalty as Kidderminster rescued a point at home to ten-man Torquay United.

Hurst's brace looked like it was going to be enough to secure maximum points for the visitors, but Reece Styche had other ideas as he levelled in the 91st minute to add to Aman Verma's earlier header.

Despite seeing former Harrier Simon Heslop dismissed for a nasty tackle early in the second period, United will undoubtedly travel back to the west coast unhappy at not having picked up what would have been just their third win of the season.

It was the away side who started the game much the brighter of the two, with consecutive corners in the first five minutes bringing near misses from Alex Fisher and Angus MacDonald respectively, before Heslop struck the woodwork not long after.

As the clock ticked to 15 minutes, United's dominance paid off as Hurst dispatched a delightful free-kick into the top-left corner after Calvin Dinsley had been booked for taking down Dan Butler.

As the half wore on though, the Harriers began to come back into the game, with Kelvin Langmead first drawing a wonderful save from Spiess, before Gilbraltar international Styche was unlucky to see his lobbed effort bounce back off the crossbar.

Just three minutes into the second period, Heslop was shown a straight red card by referee Richard Martin for what was perceived to be a dangerous challenge on Styche.

The dismissal lifted the struggling home side, with it taking just eight minutes from them to make use of their numerical advantage; Aman Verma nodding home from six yards after MacDonald had taken out his own goalkeeper.

The sides only remained level for a matter of minutes though, with Torquay regaining their advantage in the 67th minute after Louis Briscoe's effort deflected kindly into the path of Hurst, who made no mistake from close range.

As the home side pushed to draw back level, the United defence stood firm, and it seemed as though the Gulls would be leaving with all three points until goalscorer Hurst took down Jamie Spencer in the Kidderminster box giving the referee no choice but to award the penalty.

Styche made no mistake with the spot kick, low into the bottom right hand corner to save what could be a priceless point for the Harriers.
