Minnows Offenbach no match for Monchengladbach

Borussia Monchengladbach book their place in the last 16 of the DFB-Pokal with a 2-0 victory over Kickers Offenbach.

Goals from Max Kruse and Patrick Herrmann saw Borussia Monchengladbach through with a 2-0 victory over fourth-tier Kickers Offenbach in the DFB-Pokal at the Sparda Bank Hessen Stadium this evening.

Kickers Offenbach started the match well but Christian Cappek, Giuliano Modica and Markus Muller were unable to score with shots in the opening 15 minutes.

Thorgan Hazard failed to test Kickers goalkeeper Daniel Endres on the half-hour mark before Andre Hahn shot wide on the verge of half time.

Gladbach opened the scoring shortly after the restart, Kruse scoring from the penalty spot after a handball from an Offenbach defender.

Muller tried to respond but he shot wide, before Denis Mangafic's long-range shot failed to test Yann Sommer.

Patrick Herrmann's goal doubled Monchengladbach's lead with seven minutes remaining.
