Juventus survive Chievo scare

Juventus come from behind to beat Chievo thanks to a late own goal, running out 2-1 winners after a tough test in Verona.

Juventus have battled back from behind for the second match in a row tonight, surviving a scare to beat Chievo 2-1 in a win marred in controversy.

Antonio Conte decided to rotate his side this evening, resting Carlos Tevez and handing Claudio Marchisio his first start of the season.

His side made a slow start and fell behind on 28 minutes courtesy of a quality strike from Cyril Thereau, who turned Gennaro Sardo's cross into the corner with a perfectly-placed low volley.

The visitors responded quickly as Andrea Pirlo's fierce drive was deflected over, before Fernando Llorente failed to get enough power on a header from close range.

Chievo's advantage lasted until two minutes after the break as Juve levelled through Fabio Quagliarella, who tapped in his second of the season at the third time of asking from a yard out.

The hosts thought they were back ahead soon after as Alberto Paloschi reacted quickest in the penalty area, but the forward was wrongly judged to be offside as another Chievo player came back from deep.

Chievo's anger at that decision turned to despair moments later as Juve took the lead in fortunate circumstances, with Alessandro Bernardini's attempted clearance ending up in his own net.

Juve closed out the match with efficiency late on as Arturo Vidal came on to held steady the ship, making it four wins and a draw from five league games this season.
