Juventus move 11 points clear in Serie A

Arturo Vidal scores twice as Juventus move 14 points clear in Serie A courtesy of a 2-0 win over Lazio this evening.

Arturo Vidal scored two first-half goals to give Juventus a comfortable 2-0 win over Lazio this evening, sending them 11 points clear at the top of Serie A.

The visitors were ahead after just 10 minutes as Mirko Vucinic was brought down in the area by Lorik Cana's late lunge. Vidal stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way and make it 1-0.

Juventus almost doubled this lead in the 23rd minute when Vucinic met Andrea Pirlo's cross, flicking a volley towards goal that Federico Marchetti had to parry away.

They did not have to wait too much longer for their second, however, as Vidal linked up with Claudio Marchisio before chipping the ball delicately over the keeper.

The hosts almost pulled a goal back seven minutes after the restart when Mickael Ciani rose highest to meet a corner, forcing Gianluigi Buffon to make a smart save at his near post.

Juventus threatened to net a third just before the hour mark when Pirlo's free kick was parried into the path of Marchisio, but the Italian couldn't keep his shot down from close range.

Lazio had a golden chance to get themselves back into the match just five minutes later when Ederson's cross found Libor Kozak unmarked at the back post, but the Czech was slow to react and headed his effort wide.

The hosts had one last chance to pull a goal back in the third minute of stoppage time when Miroslav Klose collected Ederson's pass, only to hammer his shot wide from close range.
