Nicolas Anelka has said that Juventus are capable of winning the Champions League after signing for the club on a five-month loan deal.

The former France international joined the Italian giants from Shanghai Shenhua during the January transfer window.

Anelka has revealed that he is ready to make an impact in his short spell at the club and believes that the side have all the qualities needed to win Europe's main competition.

"I believe a team like Juventus has the players, mentality and athletic qualities required to [win the Champions League]," the 33-year-old told Juventus's official website.

"We'll give all our strength and energy to bring the trophy home."

"It's a very difficult competition. When you start out you never know if you'll be able to win it, but you still need to go for it all the same."

Anelka made 22 appearances in his first spell at Shanghai Shenhua, scoring three goals.
