Massimiliano Allegri: 'We should have scored more'

Massimiliano Allegri says that Juventus "did well", but could have scored more goals in their Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has claimed that his side should have taken a more commanding lead over Borussia Dortmund following a 2-1 victory in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

Carlos Tevez had opened the scoring for the Italians, before Marco Reus quickly equalised for the visitors.

Shortly before half time Alvaro Morata restored the Bianconeri's lead, but despite creating a number of chances in the second half, they could not add a third goal and will take a slim lead to Germany in next month's second leg.

"It was a fair result, though we could've had more goals and had far more scoring opportunities. I thought we had a good second half and allowed Borussia practically nothing," Allegri told Sky Sport Italia.

"We know their qualities, as they like to play with pace and run into spaces. The Champions League will always be a balanced encounter and we defended in an organised manner.

"We didn't make the most of two or three counter-attacks when clear on goal, as we got the final ball wrong. It was a big test against a great side and the lads did well. Now we'll focus on the head-to-head with Roma in Serie A and after that think about Dortmund."

The second leg between the teams will take place at the Westfalenstadion on March 18.
