Carlos Edwards is hoping to see not as many loan arrivals at Ipswich Town next season.

Ipswich Town captain Carlos Edwards has admitted that it would be beneficial to the team if they had fewer on-loan players next season.

A total of 23 players were given their debuts for the Tractor Boys this campaign - 16 of which were those that had signed temporary deals from their parent clubs.

However, looking ahead to the new season, the versatile Edwards has expressed his desire to see more permanent signings made at Portman Road.

"It's a long season and the gaffer [Mick McCarthy] might want to nail down more guys on permanent contracts rather than bringing in players on loan," Edwards told the East Anglian Daily Times. "We want a stable club and need guys that want to wear the shirt on Saturdays and Tuesday evenings.

"There might be times where the manager has to bring in loan players because others are not pulling their weight and whoever comes in, we will embrace them as one of us.

"There are times when you have to change but when you are doing that every couple of games, it doesn't help the flow of the team and the squad."

Ipswich's last match of the season will see them travel to Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
