Daryl Murphy scores a late header as Ipswich Town draw 2-2 at Bournemouth

Daryl Murphy's late header secures a valuable point for Ipswich Town as they drew 2-2 at Bournemouth in the Championship.

Daryl Murphy's powerful header secured a point for Ipswich Town as they twice came from behind to draw 2-2 at Bournemouth in the Championship.

Murphy headed in Paul Anderson's free-kick late in the second half in a game full of chances at both ends.

Bournemouth dominated the opening period and took the lead after just two minutes when Yann Kermorgant acrobatically volleyed the ball home.

Ipswich goalkeeper Bartorsz Bialkowski was forced into several good saves to preserve the score at 1-0 until half time, and his efforts were rewarded when his side quickly equalised after the break.

Teddy Bishop scored his first Ipswich goal when he tapped the ball in after a good run and cross by Tyrone Mings, just five minutes into the second period.

However, Ipswich's joy was short lived as Matt Ritchie slammed home Callum Wilson's impressive cross at the far post just three minutes later.

Ipswich dug deep, though, and Murphy planted a powerful header from Anderson's free-kick past the keeper to equalise for the Tractor Boys.

Both sides created late chances, and Marc Pugh should have won the game for Bournemouth, but he hit Brett Pitman's header straight at the keeper during injury time.
