Ipswich Town striker Daryl Murphy has revealed that he broke his nose when scoring the first of his two goals in the Championship victory over Fulham this afternoon.
Murphy, who is the division's top scorer with 21 goals, headed Ipswich into the lead inside five minutes before putting the Blues two ahead just before half time.
"Yeah I broke my nose and I actually didn't even see the first one go in because of the pain I was in," Murphy told the Ipswich website after Ipswich's second 2-1 win in succession.
"It's why I was off the pitch for such a long time because I couldn't stop the bleeding but it was worth it for the three points anyway.
"I was delighted to get a couple of goals today and go past the 20-goal season mark but it's not about me, it's about the team and I thought all the boys were brilliant today."
With Bournemouth dropping points at home to Huddersfield Town and Middlesbrough and Derby County not playing until midweek because of FA Cup commitments, Ipswich are just two points off the top in fourth place.
