Mick McCarthy: "We're all as bad as each other"

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy reflects on why the relegation fight in the Championship is so close.

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has admitted that there is very little to separate the teams in the bottom half of the Championship.

As it stands, just seven points split Derby County in eighth and Huddersfield Town, who currently occupy the final relegation spot.

Reflecting on the reasoning behind why the fight to stay in the division is so tight, McCarthy claimed that it has a lot to do with the fact that the teams are "as bad as each other".

"Why is it so tight? We're all as bad as each other. Don't ask me to elaborate on that, I think that just about sums it up," the East Anglian Daily Times quotes him as saying.

"On a given day you'll get a stand-out performance, but overall it's much of a muchness. The bottom teams just seem to be the form teams at the moment."

McCarthy's team are 17th with six matches left to contest.
