Mick McCarthy: "Not a great deal between us and Burnley"

Mick McCarthy says that Ipswich Town showed that they are as good as Burnley despite losing 1-0 at Portman Road this afternoon.

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has said that there is not much difference between his team and Burnley following today's 1-0 defeat at Portman Road.

Scott Arfield scored the only goal of the game to see the Clarets win their sixth game in a row and stretch their lead at the top of the Championship table to two points.

"I don't think Burnley were any more accomplished than us but they had a Johnny-on-the-spot who came in and scored," PA quotes McCarthy as saying.

""We got what we deserved as they defended their goal better than us for the 90 minutes. I was delighted with how we played against a very good side but are they better than us? I don't think so.

"They just have people who are putting the ball in the net and there were three or four tiny little errors which led to their goal. We are not that far away. There is not a great deal between us and Burnley."

The result leaves the Tractor Boys in 11th and without a win in three.
