Luke Chambers hails Mick McCarthy's impact

Luke Chambers praises the work that Mick McCarthy has done since he took charge of Ipswich Town last year.

Ipswich Town defender Luke Chambers has described manager Mick McCarthy as "an absolute Godsend" for the Championship outfit.

When McCarthy took charge of the Suffolk side in November 2012, they were bottom of the table. Since then, he has guided them to safety and has also overseen their best start to a campaign since 2004-05.

With the club on a run of just two defeats from their last 12 outings, centre-back Chambers has insisted that his boss is deserving of a lot of the plaudits.

"The manager has been an absolute Godsend for this club in my opinion. We've become a different team under him and I don't think he's spent a penny. We had a few horrible results at the start under him, so the development to now from where we were is huge," he told the East Anglian Daily Times.

"We're not getting carried away, but we do feel we know what it takes to get results. I don't think we've been too far away all season with our performances, something has just clicked of late and we've managed to get on a bit of a role."

Ipswich are currently 10th in the standings, 12 points behind leaders Queens Park Rangers.
