Blackburn take a 1-0 lead into half-time against Ipswich in their first game back in English football's second tier.

Blackburn Rovers have got their Championship campaign off to a good start by taking a 1-0 lead into half-time against Ipswich Town this afternoon.

Ipswich started brightly, coming close through Josh Carson after just four minutes. Blackburn soon began to settle into the match, however, and tested Scott Loach after 11 minutes through a low Colin Kazim-Richards shot.

Kazim-Richards only had to wait 10 more minutes for a goal on his league debut for the club, however, as he headed home from six yards out following a corner.

Ipswich looked to respond before the break, and almost did when Lee Martin's effort was saved by Paul Robinson before the midfielder headed over from the resulting corner in the last chance of the half.
