David McGoldrick gave his side the lead after 38 minutes, converting a rebound from his own penalty which had been saved.

Mick McCarthy's men failed to build on their advantage however, and just minutes later Davies's right-footed shot brought the teams level in an even first half.

Ipswich striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake made his debut for the hosts, though he departed after 30 minutes through injury.

The second period saw a similar pattern as both sides looked to win the game, though in the end it finished level to ensure a replay.
