Ten-man Inter Milan see off Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk

Inter Milan battle back from a goal behind to defeat Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk at the San Siro in their Europa League clash.

Ten-man Inter Milan have come from a goal behind to beat Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk 2-1 at the San Siro this evening.

The visiting side came close to opening up the scoring on 16 minutes when Jevhen Konopljanka forced a fine save out of Samir Handanovic, although a bigger opportunity was to come shortly after with Ruslan Rotan arriving from deep to fire home a rebound.

Fredy Guarin brought down a Dnipro player inside the box moments later, which led to Konopljanka being gifted the chance to double his side's advantage, but he failed to get the better of the Inter stopper from the spot.

The penalty miss proved costly when Zdravko Kuzmanovic fired from home the edge of the box on the half-hour mark to level up the contest.

There was still time for Roberto Mancini's side to complete the turnaround prior to the break, although Yuto Nagatomo failed to convert when in a promising position.

Inter got the second half off to the worst possible start when, with just three minutes played, Andrea Ranocchia was shown a second yellow card to see the faltering Italian giants reduced to 10 men.

Yet that incident proved to spark the Nerazzurri into action with Pablo Osvaldo finding the net minutes later after being picked out by Hernanes inside the opposition box.

Nikola Kalinic saw two chances pass him by in quick succession to level up the game, while Yevhen Seleznyov had a goal ruled out late on as Inter held out for the three points.

The win leaves Inter well ahead on 11 points in the standings, but Dnipro's hopes of progression will go into the final round of matches.
