Jay Emmanuel-Thomas puts struggling Ipswich Town ahead against the run of play at Hull City.

Hull City controlled much of the play in the opening 45 minutes against Ipswich Town but find themselves behind at the KC Stadium.

Struggling Ipswich, without a win in nine, were on the back foot from the off and could have been behind on a number of occasions in the opening quarter of an hour.

Abdoulaye Faye first saw a header cleared off the line by Aaron Cresswell before nodding Sone Aluko's delivery wide.

Cresswell then sliced horribly in the area allowing Seyi Olofinjana the chance to tuck home but the midfielder skied high into the stand.

Next up to have a chance was Aluko, but he was denied by new Ipswich loanee Stephen Henderson in goal from a one-on-one opportunity.

It was Ipswich who surprisingly took the lead, however. Jay Emmanuel-Thomas collected the ball on the right and cut inside, beating a couple of Hull challenges before lashing home from a tight angle with the Tractor Boys' first shot.

Jay Simpson almost levelled 10 minutes from the interval but his long-range shot fizzed just wide.
