Half-Time Report: Michael Dawson heads Hull City level against Queens Park Rangers

Michael Dawson cancels out Charlie Austin's opener as Hull City reach half time on level terms with Queens Park Rangers.

Michael Dawson's header before half time has brought Hull City level in their Championship clash with Queens Park Rangers.

The Tigers, starting with the same side who won 2-0 at Cardiff City in midweek, were almost in front inside the opening 60 seconds as Tom Huddlestone set up Sone Aluko, but his shot was straight at Robert Green.

Green, recalled to the Hoops lineup after a suspension, was nearly called into action again on nine minutes when Abel Hernandez found Huddlestone, only for the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder to send his effort flying over the crossbar.

Rangers enjoyed plenty of early possession, but it was the home side who continued to threaten in attack and failed to convert another chance after Aluko crossed for Mohamed Diame, but the ex-Wigan Athletic player was unable to beat the England international.

QPR remained under pressure at the back after Uruguayan forward Hernandez had successive shots blocked as Hull were unable to turn their early opportunities into a goal.

Chris Ramsey's side punished the hosts' profligacy as Charlie Austin's header came back off the underside of the crossbar and hit a defender on the goalline before finding the net.

That goal appeared to signal a shift in the balance of the game as first Tjarron Chery fired wide with a 35-yard shot before Matt Phillips curled another free kick just off-target.

However, Hull pulled themselves level before the interval as Dawson headed Huddlestone's cross beyond the reach of Green.
