Sone Aluko scored his fifth goal of the season to earn Hull City a 1-0 half-time lead over Barnsley at the KC Stadium this afternoon.
The former Rangers striker capitalised on a poor defensive header from Martin Cranie to collect the ball and send a shot past Luke Steele with the help of a deflection.
Another deflected effort nearly presented Hull with a second goal, but Robert Koren's shot was diverted behind for a corner.
The Slovenian playmaker did find the target with a similar effort moments later, but Steele was on hand to push the ball wide.
Barnsley were again thankful to their goalkeeper for restricting the first-half damage as he foiled Jay Simpson following more sloppy defending from the visitors.
