Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Joel Coleman signs a new two-year deal with the club, with the option of a further 12 months on top of that.

Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Joel Coleman has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

The 21-year-old joined the Terriers from Oldham Athletic last summer and kept five clean sheets in 10 appearances across all competitions during his debut campaign.

The shot-stopper has now put pen to paper on improved terms which will keep him at the club until 2019, with the option of a further 12 months beyond that.

"During his first year at the club, Joel has shown what a capable young goalkeeper he is," manager David Wagner told the club's official website.

"He performed very well every time he came into the team, including in a big pressure playoff semi-final against Sheffield Wednesday, and we're delighted to have his future secured to the club for a long time.

"Joel still has a lot of space to improve and that is what he must continue to do, in every training session and in every game."

Coleman is expected to challenge for the number one jersey this season following the return of last season's first choice Danny Ward to parent club Liverpool.
