Ivica Olic scores late equaliser as Wolfsburg draw with Hoffenheim

Ivica Olic scores an 89th minute equaliser as Wolfsburg draw 1-1 with Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.

Ivica Olic scored a late equaliser as Wolfsburg held Hoffenheim to a 1-1 draw in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.

Hoffenheim started the game brightly, and were close to taking the lead when Sejad Salihovic found space on the edge of the box, but his deflected effort was tipped wide by Diego Benaglio.

Wolfsburg improved as the match progressed and ended the first half strongly, with Olic firing their best chance just wide of the target after holding off a couple of challenges.

However, it was Hoffenheim who broke the deadlock 11 minutes into the second half when Andreas Beck's inviting cross was converted by Anthony Modeste.

There should have been a quick reply from the visitors, but Kevin De Bruyne could only shoot over the crossbar after being released by Olic.

Wolfsburg were on top in the closing stages as they searched for an equaliser, and their luck changed in the final minute of normal time when Daniel Caligiuri picked out Olic, who slotted home.

It would be a nervy finish for the visitors, though, as substitute Josuha Guilavogui was shown a second yellow card late on, but they held on for a deserved point.
