Gary Locke dedicates derby victory to supporters

Gary Locke dedicates Hearts' 2-0 victory against Hibernian in the Edinburgh derby to the club's supporters.

Hearts manager Gary Locke has dedicated today's Edinburgh derby victory over Hibernian to the club's supporters.

The Maroons beat their local rivals 2-0 at Tynecastle, a result which puts off their looming relegation for another few days at least.

"The supporters have been through a lot this season and we had to try to repay them," Locke is quoted as saying by the Herald Scotland following the match.

"As I said during the week, it wasn't Hibs that were going to relegate us, it was the fact the 15 points [deduction] had killed us and we hadn't won enough games.

"But obviously it wouldn't have been nice for Hibs to come here and beat us. It would have been a hard one to take. It meant a lot to us. It's been a long hard season for us and it was important we gave the fans a result. That result was certainly for them."

The win leaves Hearts 19 points from safety at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership.
