Lowly Hartlepool United turn to Ronnie Moore

Struggling League Two side Hartlepool United name former Tranmere Rovers boss Ronnie Moore as their new manager.

The Football League's bottom side Hartlepool United have appointed former Tranmere Rovers boss Ronnie Moore as their new manager.

Pools had been without a manager since the departure of Paul Murray earlier this month.

On a busy day at Victoria Park, Moore's appointment comes after Hartlepool announced that TMH 2014 Limited had agreed to take over the club.

"We believe that having Ronnie in charge will give the club the best possible chance of remaining in the Football League and we will provide him with all the support he needs to help him achieve that," new chairman Peter Harris told the club website.

"He is a very experienced manager which is something we felt was needed but he's also a tough character who is very much prepared for the battle ahead."

Moore, 61, who has managed Tranmere twice, was sacked by the club in April after he was found guilty of breaching Football Association betting rules.

Hartlepool are six points from safety at the bottom of League Two with 12 points from 20 games.
