Hamilton Academical vice-chairman slams West Ham United over collapsed transfer

Stephen Hendrie's £2m-plus move from Hamilton Academical to West Ham United has collapsed, the Scottish outfit's vice-chairman Ronnie MacDonald reveals.

Hamilton Academical vice-chairman Ronnie MacDonald has revealed that Stephen Hendrie's proposed move to West Ham United is now off, slamming the Premier League outfit for their treatment of the player.

The 20-year-old was expected to make a switch to Upton Park for a fee in excess of £2m this month, although a transfer soon broke down despite terms being agreed.

MacDonald has now hit out at the Hammers, saying that he hopes to never conduct business with the club again.

"I couldn't care if I never heard from them again," he told BBC Sport. "It's one thing a deal between clubs falling down, but I think it is totally unfair on the player.

"We were offered a fee for Stephen by Crystal Palace in December when the previous manager was there, which we more or less accepted. We were in the midst of discussing it when West Ham came on and wanted to sign Stephen."

Meanwhile, MacDonald claims that the club has received 78 applications for the vacant managerial position following Alex Neil's departure earlier this month.
