Pedro Leon signs new Getafe deal

Pedro Leon has signed a new long-term contract with Getafe.

The Spanish winger was left out of the capital side's squad for the first half of last season as his wage would have breached their salary cap.

Leon was eventually registered to play in the second half of the campaign, but it was widely thought that he would leave this summer.

The 28-year-old, however, has now signed a new contract with the Deep Blues, which will run until the summer of 2018.

"I'm a man of this house and I'm happy to stay here. The project with this new coaching staff is very ambitious, so I'm happy," AS quotes Leon as saying.

"Even in the best families there are arguments. Last year there were difficult moments. The president and I had a conversation and from that moment everything was settled.

"The problems last year were solved by the president. This year I'm only thinking about football. The work of the coach is exciting and he's brought a style of play that suits us. There's been a mutual agreement [to renew]. I helped the club and the club helped me."

Leon joined Getafe from Real Madrid in 2013.
