Sami Khedira 'to miss remainder of Euro 2016 due to injury'

Sami Khedira is understood to have suffered 'a partial tear in the adductor of his left thigh' and is a major doubt for the remainder of Germany's Euro 2016 campaign.

Germany will reportedly be without midfielder Sami Khedira for the remainder of Euro 2016 due to a groin injury sustained in the victory over Italy.

Die Mannschaft edged out their opponents on penalties in Bordeaux on Saturday night to set up a semi-final meeting with either tournament hosts France or minnows Iceland.

It appears as though Khedira will play no further part, though, as German publication Kicker has claimed that the Juventus ace suffered "at least a partial tear in the adductor of his left thigh", which forced him to limp off 15 minutes into the game.

Khedira is to undergo a scan on Sunday evening to reveal the full extent of the damage, but it is likely that he will miss a second final in succession should Germany make it that far after also being ruled out of the 2014 World Cup showdown with Argentina.

Germany have, however, confirmed that striker Mario Gomez will definitely miss the duration of the tournament in France with a hamstring tear.
